DRAFTING & COLOR ELEVATIONS
I strangely enjoy drafting too. Being a good drafts person as a designer is extremely valuable. The better you can communicate the accuracy of your design, the more likely the shop can fully support your vision - particularly when it comes to the success in the details, details, details. I'm a Vectorworks user, and have been for decades. Though I still can not separate myself from owning hand-drafting tools. I have more drafting tools than I can ever use. I've been known to use them for DIY home improvement projects too, and in reality, they make the studio tables look more sophisticated. :)
Like many creative types, I'm easily distracted by shinny objects and colors. Every show has a different approach to communicating color. Sometimes a collage and a good conversation will suffice. Sometimes I find myself providing very specific information to match shop conditions, requests, experience, etc. The reality is, we have a show to complete and a team of people willing to assist. How can we most effectively communicate? How can we be most successful with the given circumstances.? Let's do it that way.
